Maud PENON - Réserve des Amis Sàrl

HISTORY

In 1989 Régine Penon Guex succeeded her father Roger Guex who had founded the winery in 1975.

THE VINEYARDS

She tends a small collection of vineyards totaling 1.5 hectares all in the commune of Vétroz, following the norms for integrated production. Pinot noir and Gamay make up 50% of the plots, the Amigne another 20%, with the remainder divided between Chasselas, Muscat, Petite Arvine, Cornalin and Syrah.

THE WINES

Visitors (up to 12) are received in the warm and cozy canotzet (the Valisian ‘caveau' or ‘grotto').
Régine Penon confesses, along with many of her fellows in Vétroz, to a particular passion for the Amigne, a grape variety that is unique to the Valais and whose world production is almost entirely concentrated in Vétroz. Her Amigne ripens on old vines aged 30 to 40 years. It won the Nobilis d'Or in 2005 and was selected among the three best Amigne wines of the Valais.
She devotes great attention as well to the production of full-bodied, well-structured red wines from Cornalin and Syrah.
The Dôle had already made its reputation in her father's lifetime. This year (2006) it was named the fourth best Dôle of the Valais at the competition Les étoiles du millésime 2005, organized by the IVV (Interprofessional Association of Vines and Wine).
